On behalf of our international client, a leading engineering organisation delivering large-scale water and wastewater infrastructure projects, we are seeking a Process Design Lead to join their team in Dublin, Ireland.
This role involves leading the Process & Hydraulic Engineering discipline across multiple projects, from concept through to construction, commissioning and operations, within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead process and hydraulic design for water and wastewater projects, including equipment selection, PFDs/P&IDs, hydraulic calculations, energy balances and control philosophies.
- Develop site layouts and constructability assessments, ensuring safe, operable and maintainable design solutions.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary design inputs across MEICA, Civil and Structural teams, ensuring technical alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
- Work closely with project managers, planners, digital teams and clients to define scope, budgets, programs and deliverables.
- Ensure designs comply with internal standards, client specifications, statutory requirements, and industry best practice, participating in design reviews, HAZOPs and constructability workshops.
- Provide technical support during construction and commissioning, maintain accurate documentation through BIM 360 / ACC or similar CDEs, and support tender-stage activities and continuous improvement.
What We’re Looking For
- University Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Chemical or related discipline)
- 5+ years of relevant experience, preferably in water, wastewater, or process engineering projects.
- Strong technical expertise in process and hydraulic engineering, including calculations, equipment specification, and design documentation.
- Experience integrating designs across MEICA disciplines and preparing constructability assessments.
- Proficiency in digital engineering tools and collaborative platforms (BIM360, ACC, ProjectWise, or similar CDEs).
- Strong ability to manage client relationships, lead design discussions, and communicate design intent clearly.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers and designers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, organisational abilities, and attention to detail.
- Professional accreditation (e.g., Chartered Engineer) is a plus.
