On behalf of our international client, a leading engineering organisation delivering large-scale water, wastewater, and construction projects, we are seeking a Mechanical Estimator to join their team in Dublin, Ireland.
This role involves preparing detailed mechanical estimates, supporting tendering and procurement processes, and ensuring cost-effective, accurate, and high-quality delivery of projects.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Prepare detailed and accurate mechanical cost estimates based on drawings and specifications, ensuring realistic risk allowances and compliance with company and industry standards.
- Support design development and tendering, providing early-stage pricing input, buildability advice and cost-effective solutions.
- Contribute to tender preparation, including construction programmes and staff schedules.
- Collaborate with procurement teams to develop procurement plans, engage suppliers and subcontractors, and obtain competitive quotations.
- Apply up-to-date technical and industry knowledge to improve estimate accuracy and competitiveness.
- Develop financial models for framework submissions, ensuring alignment with project budgets.
- Use standardised cost coding and governance processes to enable effective cost tracking, risk management and reporting.
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in mechanical estimating, preferably within water, wastewater, or construction sectors.
- Proven track record in preparing detailed and accurate mechanical estimates.
- Strong analytical, numerical, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Excellent knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and construction methods.
- Proficiency in cost estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
